Title: Senior Test Engineer
Location: Columbia, MD - (Onsite work only)
Duration: 12-Month contract to hire
Hourly pay rate: $55/hour - $85/hour, W-2 only
Travel: Up to 30% (Primarily U.S., Canada and at times Europe)

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Test Engineer with a focus on IP-based voice communications systems. The ideal candidate will collaborate with design, engineering, and project teams across North America and Europe to ensure system deliverables meet the required quality and compliance standards. This role combines both hands-on testing and leadership, including the development of test plans, test case execution, and supporting the verification of system requirements. The role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual who thrives in both independent and team environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and test cases based on system requirements, program specifications, and industry standards.
- Deploy and test IP-based voice communications systems, ensuring system functionality and performance.
- Lead and coordinate internal and customer test events, adhering to project schedules and budgets.
- Collaborate with design teams, engineers, and project teams to isolate root causes, perform analysis, and implement corrective actions to ensure compliant deliverables.
- Maintain the Verification Requirements Traceability Matrix (VRTM) in collaboration with design and system architect teams.
- Generate comprehensive test reports, problem/defect reports, and mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements throughout the testing process.
- Provide direct support to design and project teams, assisting in troubleshooting and implementing fixes.
- Participate in the planning and execution of tests to verify U.S. Government test programs, when applicable.
Core Qualifications:
- B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant engineering degree.
- Strong experience in systems testing, including test plan development, execution of test cases, and generating detailed documentation.
- Experience working with IP-based voice communications systems, VoIP networks, and telephony tools (e.g., GL Communications).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Linux (Oracle), and VM platforms.
- Proficient in business tools such as MS Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to create clear, concise, and detailed documentation.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in dynamic environments with minimal supervision.
Preferred skills:
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or similar.
- Experience using test scripting tools, analysis software, and test/measurement equipment.
- Experience with Nessus security scanner and remediating security vulnerabilities.
- Background in legacy telephony circuits (SS1/4, Shout/Voice lines) and audio connections.
- Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks, such as MIL-STD-810, DO-178C, and ISO/IEC 15288.
- Support design, develop, test, and implementation of systems and subsystems, adhering to DOD and industry standards utilizing best practices.
- Experience with Defense/Military Certification processes and requirements.
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
Travel Requirement:
- Ability to travel up to 30% within the United States, Canada, and Europe as required for project support and testing events.
