About the Role: Everest Insurance, a member of The Everest Group, Ltd., is seeking an AVP, Assistant Underwriting Officer, Excess Casualty that can reside in either New York, NY, Boston, MA, or Warren, NJ. Under the direction of the Divisional Chief Underwriting Officer: Serve as a technical expert and exercise technical authority with regards to underwriting issues. Support underwriters in producing risk-adjusted underwriting profit for a variety of casualty lines and products on both individual account referrals and assisting with the technical underwriting of portfolios in various lines of business. Assess technical specialization and segments within product to determine priorities, provide referral and other support to underwriters. Provide mentoring, training, and skill building to underwriters. Provide product specific training within and outside the respective division. Responsible for staying up to date and current with industry and product trends and assisting to adapt coverage as needed. Working with CUO, develop and manage all product guidelines so they are current with the vision of the product. Ensure the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained. Expertise in Excess Casualty including Middle Market and National Accounts sectors Work Experience and Qualifications Bachelor's degree - Insurance certifications (CPCU, ARM, FCAS, etc.) preferred. 7-10 years of insurance underwriting experience. Strong Casualty technical skill set required, with an emphasis in the Excess Casualty Middle Market and National Accounts sectors. Energy, Construction, Life Sciences, and International Casualty experience a plus. Strong problem-solving analytical skills. Ability to drive data analytics and make appropriate correlations on results throughout the organization. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines across a variety of stakeholders to meet target deliverable deadlines. Strong communications skills both written and oral. Ability to concisely provide executive summaries to senior management as needed. Experience in corporate governance and controls management including exposure to a wide variety of systems. Wide variety of assignments in operational workflow reviews and systems a plus. Strategic, collaborative, growth oriented. Well organized with relentless attention to detail. Self-motivated. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. High sense of urgency. Action oriented and strong work ethic. Intellectual curiosity to delve into various business problems and emerging risks. For NYC Only: The base salary range for this position is $185,000-210,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
