About the Role:
The Head of Workers’ Compensation Claims will lead a team of claims professionals overseeing and managing Third Party Administrators (TPAs) adjusting claims on behalf of Everest Insurance®. This position will report directly to the Chief Claims Officer of Everest Insurance®.
Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Accountable for developing the overall strategic and functional direction for the management of Workers’ Compensation claims
- Accountable for preparing and monitoring departmental budget
- Establish goals, objectives and metrics related to individual performance and operational health, ensuring that goals, objectives, and metrics are aligned with Everest business strategies
- Identify, forecast and present discernible claim trends, jurisdictional, or legal developments
- Development and execution of claims resolution strategies. Collaboratively working with team members and guiding large loss process, providing strategic and substantive input and ensuring that internal quality control standards are met
- Implement processes to monitor and track status of key cases and associated expenses and develop protocols for the timely reporting and elevation of same within the team
- Advise and present significant cases to the Chief Claims Officer for North America Insurance, as well as the Group Chief Claims Officer and other executive management
- Accountable for developing, conducting and/or facilitating training of Claims staff, ensuring the highest quality standards for content and presentation are met
- Leading the development, maintenance, sharing, and execution of Claims Handling Best Practices for Third Party Administrators (TPAs), as well as for the Everest Claims team responsible for the oversight and management of TPAs.
- Regular communication with TPA partners to identify trends, reinforce Best Practices, and drive continuous improvement
- Partner with vendor management to build and oversee relationships with third parties essential to the Workers’ Compensation claim process including TPAs, outside counsel, experts, and other consultants
- Extensive communication with insureds, brokers, reinsurers, underwriters, actuaries, and finance professionals
- Supporting underwriting inquiries and information requests regarding loss trends, data analysis, risk assessments, and other needs
- Attending client meetings and industry functions to support retention and development of client and broker relationships
- Supporting Ceded Reinsurance Claims in audits and inquiries
Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge and experience in the Insurance industry with specialization in Workers’ Compensation claims
- Minimum of 15 years of claims handling and/or claims management experience with demonstrated progressive responsibility across multiple jurisdictions, experience leading organization change preferred
- Middle Market through National and Multinational Account experience preferred
- Four-year degree required; Advanced degrees and/or recognized insurance industry designations preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively time manage and multi-task
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Extensive experience training on technical issues
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
- Facility with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to evaluate coverage issues involving a wide variety of loss scenarios
- Ability to develop and execute on cost-effective claims resolution strategies
- Ability to identify and use relevant data and metrics to best manage claims and the operation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other members of the NA Insurance and Claims leadership teams
- Collaborative mind-set and willingness to work with people outside immediate reporting hierarchy to improve processes and generate optimal departmental efficiency

For CA and NY: The base salary range for this position is $300,000 - $350,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
