We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing within the home healthcare industry. Having experience with the KanTime EMR system is a plus but an ideal candidate must have experience with Medical Billing through Governing agencies. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes, contributing to the financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Billing and Invoicing
Prepare and submit accurate claims to Governing agencies, insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers using KanTime.
Verify and review documentation and coding for completeness and accuracy before submission.
Ensure all billing is compliant with payer requirements and regulatory standards.
Manage electronic and paper claim submissions as required.
Monitor billing cycles and schedules to meet deadlines.
Accounts Receivable Management
Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable balances.
Resolve billing discrepancies and denials by communicating with insurance companies and payers.
Implement strategies to reduce accounts receivable days and improve cash flow.
Maintain detailed records of communication and actions taken on delinquent accounts.
Payment Posting
Accurately post payments, adjustments, and write-offs into the KanTime system.
Reconcile daily deposits and ensure proper allocation of funds.
Prepare bank deposits and manage electronic payment processing.
Compliance and Documentation
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations, coding standards, and compliance requirements specific to home health care.
Ensure all billing activities adhere to state and federal laws, including HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines.
Keep accurate and organized records for audits and compliance reviews.
Reporting and Analysis
Generate billing and accounts receivable reports to track performance metrics.
Analyze data to identify trends, issues, or areas for improvement.
Provide insights and recommendations to management based on findings.
Collaboration
Work closely with care coordinators, field staff, and administrative teams to obtain necessary documentation and information for billing.
Communicate effectively with other departments to resolve billing issues and enhance processes.
Assist in training staff on billing procedures and the use of KanTime related to billing functions.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline billing processes and enhance efficiency.
Participate in the development and implementation of new billing policies and procedures.
Stay informed about industry best practices and technological advancements in billing.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience in the home health care industry.
Familiarity with the KanTime EMR system.
Mandatory experience with Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and governing agency billing processes.
Knowledge of medical billing codes, terminology, and regulations specific to home health care.
