Everest Insurance has an opportunity for an experienced Underwriter in the Public Company Business segment located in the New York or Chicago office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team in a fast-paced environment and contribute to its profitable growth. The Underwriter will be responsible for the growth, maintenance, and profitability of the financial lines portfolio including management liability, EPL, D&O, Fiduciary and Pension Liability with an assigned region. This is a production underwriting position responsible for developing, marketing, soliciting, selecting and underwriting Public Company Directors & Officers Liability and related lines.

The Underwriter will be responsible for the growth, maintenance, and profitability of the financial lines portfolio including management liability, EPL, D&O, Fiduciary and Pension Liability with an assigned region. This is a production underwriting position responsible for developing, marketing, soliciting, selecting and underwriting Public Company Directors & Officers Liability and related lines.
You will contribute to the profitable growth of the organization by contributing in the following:
- You will underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority levels.
- Manage broker relationships associated with the surrounding geographic region.
- You will develop a regional business plan and strategy in accordance with business segment and regional goals. In addition, you will give endorsement recommendations within underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborating with other related financial lines segments along with regional colleagues and internal/external business associates.
- Provide exceptional broker and customer service pursuant to industry leading guidelines.
- You will actively perform sales calls and marketing calls to existing and new broker partners to solicit new business submissions and gather market intelligence.
- Strong adherence to internal and external compliance as well as file documentation.
- Maintain a knowledge network of the broader economic and legal environment and its contributing effect on the department’s line of business and the insurance industry.
- Collaborate with underwriting, claims, operations, marketing, and home office to achieve collective team goals.
- Stay up to date with trends in corporate governance, regulatory developments and the litigation environment affecting D&O liability.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Underwriting experience in financial Lines business products of 3 years
- Strong leadership, management, and training skills
- Proficient in developing business/sales plans for a geographic region.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess financial statement and risk factors.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with brokers and clients.
- Experience underwriting other management liability products, such as Employment Practices Liability (EPL) or Fiduciary Liability.
