High School Chemistry Teacher

DESCRIPTION :
High School Chemistry teachers are responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades 9-12. High School Chemistry teachers must work collaboratively with the EHS Science Department and Department Head throughout the year to continually improve the experience and performance of our students. Teachers should be well versed in Massachusetts High School Science Standards, as well as Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) practices and Universal Design to ensure access to content for all students. Teachers must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor's Degree in Science
- Massachusetts Teaching Licensure
- SEI Endorsement

Master's Degree in Education and / or Science3 or more years of high school teaching experienceDual Licensure in Special Education and / or English as a Second LanguageExperience working in an urban public schools settingForeign Language ProficiencyESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Planning and facilitating Chemistry lessons for in person learning that are aligned with State StandardsUsing all available technology and curricula provided by the district to create engaging Chemistry lessons that are linked with 21st Century skills..Managing classroom behavior with Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions.Utilizing inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners.Incorporating language activities into Chemistry instruction including Speaking, Reading and Writing that align with State Standards for Language Proficiency.Utilizing available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students.Planning and facilitating Chemistry lab activities when aligned with State Standards with the appropriate safety protocols and necessary training.Proctoring assessments for students in grades 9-12 including MCAS and ACCESSCommunicating with student families on a regular basis using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations.Assisting in ordering and managing supplies necessary for Chemistry classrooms.Employing a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development that is relevant to the challenges of urban education in order to close opportunity gaps.Collaborating with guidance counselors to refer students who are in need of Social Emotional support.Collaborating with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are properly and consistently delivered.Contributing to school-wide initiatives and events which may be assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal.SALARY :
