We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Associate Attorney to join a growing litigation practice in Shavano Park, TX. This is an exceptional opportunity for a newly admitted attorney to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of federal and state court litigation, from initial case intake through trial. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing cases, drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, and assisting with all aspects of litigation. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent legal research and writing abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Manage all aspects of assigned cases, utilizing case management software to track deadlines, documents, and tasks.
- Calendaring: Maintain a comprehensive calendar of all deadlines (scheduling orders, discovery, motions, court appearances) and ensure compliance with Texas and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Task Management: Utilize a task management system to track all tasks, assign priorities, set deadlines, and provide updates.
- Document Management: Organize and maintain all case files (electronic and paper) within the case management system, using a consistent naming convention. Scan and digitize all incoming paper documents. Develop a standard file and subfolder structure.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research on a variety of issues, utilizing online databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis) and other resources.
- Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and other legal documents.
- Draft deposition notices, outlines, and questions.
- Depositions: Schedule depositions, arrange for court reporters, prepare exhibits, and conduct depositions.
- Court Appearances: Appear in state and federal court for hearings, conferences, and other proceedings.
- Service of Process: Oversee all aspects of service of process, ensuring compliance with relevant rules.
- E-Filing: E-file all documents in Texas state and federal courts, ensuring strict compliance with all rules and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
- Commitment to obtaining admission to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas immediately upon hiring.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and proactively solve problems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with case management software.
- Preferred:
