Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgery Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating surgical appointments, ensuring that patients receive timely and efficient service. This position requires strong communication skills, familiarity with medical terminology, and proficiency in managing health information. The Surgery Scheduler will work closely with medical staff, patients, and administrative teams to facilitate seamless scheduling processes within a clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Schedule surgical procedures by coordinating with surgeons, doctors, medical staff, and patients.
- Utilize phone systems to communicate effectively with patients regarding their appointments and explaining the procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information and surgical schedules in the electronic health record system.
- Reviewing pathology reports with the doctor to assure the patient is scheduled appropriately.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries and resolving scheduling conflicts.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to gather necessary medical information for scheduling purposes.
- Assist in the management of health information by updating patient records as needed.
- Utilize our EMR software to manage scheduling tasks efficiently.
- Support administrative functions as required, including filing and documentation.
- Coordinating with the VA for coverage of the procedures.
- Preparing packets to send to the patients.
- Checking voicemails and following up with patient inquires.
- Making appointment reminder calls.
- Preparing charts for surgery day.
- Communicating with referring providers to update them on scheduled appointments and providing chart notes if requested.
Requirements
- Proficiency in medical terminology and health information management is essential.
- Experience working in an office environment, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with computerized scheduling systems; experience with EMA is a plus.
