Job Title: Philanthropy Annual Fund Manager

Salary Range: $65,000-75,000

About The Position

The Annual Giving and Advancement Services Manager is responsible for the strategy, creation, implementation, and fundraising goals related to Annual Fund. This position is also responsible for using data to drive and support all individual giving strategy. This role oversees annual giving, including direct mail, digital fundraising, and donor acquisition campaigns. This position manages the Philanthropy Database Analyst and oversees all internal strategies for fundraising operations, including prospect research, the donor database (CRM) management and maintenance, and gift processing and reporting protocol.

Annual Fund

  • Lead, develop, and implement the Annual Fund fundraising plan.
  • Implement targeted donor campaigns including digital and direct mail appeals, special giving days and acquisition; serve as primary liaison to Annual Fund contract vendors.
  • Meet or exceed Annual Fund fundraising goals annually.
  • Analyze data regarding annual giving programs and past giving trends to inform future segmentation, engagement and overall strategy.
  • Improve donor retention and reengage lapsed donors.
  • Manage monthly giving program, increasing enrollment and renewals.
  • Act as the first point of contact in the Philanthropy department for inquiries entry to mid-level financial supporters; provide general information about Seattle Goodwill and contact donors about donations when necessary.
  • Oversee the accuracy and reporting requirements related to gift processing, including acknowledgement letters, donor receipts, and data entry.
  • Research and analyze donor trends in order to make strategic and continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Establish and ensure the processes and procedures for mail, filing, correspondence, and messages are handled in a timely manner.
  • Write donor correspondence and solicitation materials.
  • Work in collaboration with Philanthropy and Marketing and Communications leadership to develop comprehensive and cohesive messaging across all campaign and annual giving collateral.
  • Coordinate donor recognition activities, campaign records management and gift processing.
  • Evaluate and assess ROI for each giving and make strategy recommendations to maximize outcomes.
  • Assist with special events and meetings, especially when engaging Annual Fund donors.

Advancement Services

  • Oversee the use, policy, and procedures related to the Philanthropy Department Customer Relationship Management (CRM) DonorPerfect Online.
  • Manage Database Analyst and Philanthropy Coordinator and oversee training of staff, volunteers, and interns using the CRM.
  • Lead prospect research and collaborate on data driven donor cultivation strategies
  • Partner with major gift team to define donor engagement strategy and annual and campaign fundraising goals.
  • Liaise with Finance and Philanthropy leadership to support planned giving and complex gift management.
  • Create and deliver fundraising related reports to Goodwill staff.
  • Facilitate data requests from both the Philanthropy department and other internal workgroups.
  • Create and analyze daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports of annual giving progress towards revenue goals, including metrics of donor base analysis and segmentation, and return on investment;
  • Serve as project manager for CRM system.
  • Ensure accuracy of data entered by creating reports and balancing gift records with internal departments (Accounting).
  • Maintain and update CRM procedures and policies user manual in collaboration with the Philanthropy Database Analyst.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality related to partner information.
  • Uphold safe work practices in support of a safety culture through awareness and observation; train and educate employees of safety requirements; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Goodwill’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; monitoring performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. Partner with People Relations as needed and appropriate.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and/or demonstrated success in fundraising.
  • Minimum 3 years of fundraising and CRM experience and 1 year of managing staff and/or volunteers/interns.
  • Understands and deploys advancement services and prospect research best practices.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and non-profit sector.
  • Believes in and adheres to the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ (AFP) Code of Ethical Principals and Standards.
  • Editing and proof-reading skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Certificates, Licenses, Or Registrations

  • Must have valid WA driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Computer/Technology Skills

  • Experience in data queries and manipulation.
  • Experience with CRM software, preferably with Donor Perfect.
  • Skilled proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to type 50 WPM.
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.

Physical Abilities

The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; balance; bend and reach with hands and arms; use feet to operate foot pedal operation; and talk or hear. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.
