We are committed to creating and sustaining a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion (DEI) and are focused on creating a joyful, inclusive and successful organization.    Job Title: Director of Facilities and Risk Management    Salary Range: $120,000-145,000    Location: Administration   Job Summary: Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington is seeking a Director of Facilities and Risk Management to lead and oversee the organization’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), risk management, and facility operations teams. This role will ensure a safe and compliant work environment, mitigate operational risks, and optimize facility management across multiple locations. The Director will develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs to promote a culture of safety, security, and operational excellence while aligning with the mission and values of Evergreen Goodwill.   Key Responsibilities: Risk & Safety Leadership • Develop, implement, and oversee risk management strategies to minimize workplace hazards and operational risks at our stores, donation centers, warehouses, outlets, job training centers, and administrative offices throughout the six counties we operate in. • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and ADA requirements. • Lead the EHS team plans for conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations, and implement corrective action plans. • Establish and maintain safety policies, training programs, and emergency response protocols, partnering with the training team. • Lead the organization’s insurance coverage and claims processes, CARF certification, and regulatory safety inspections. • Analyze data and trends to proactively address safety concerns and reduce workplace incidents in partnership with the Worker’s Compensation team   Facility Operations & Maintenance • Manage facility maintenance programs, ensuring all properties are safe, functional, and well-maintained, creating recommendations for in-house vs. outsourced services. • Develop and oversee capital improvement projects, including renovations and infrastructure upgrades. • Ensure compliance with building codes, fire safety regulations, and environmental standards. • Manage vendor relationships for facility services, including janitorial, security, and maintenance contractors. • Oversee facility-related budget planning and cost control measures.   Leadership & Team Management • Lead, mentor, and develop the Facility Operations team and EHS specialists, fostering a proactive and safety-conscious culture. • Provide strategic direction, goal setting, and performance management for the department. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, Retail Operations, and Transportation to integrate risk and safety best practices into daily operations. • Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on risk management and facility-related matters.   Qualifications & Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, Facilities Management, or a related field; • 10 years of progressive experience in risk management, workplace safety, and facility operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other relevant safety and facility regulations. • Experience in multi-site facility management, preferably in retail, nonprofit, or industrial environments. • Proven ability to develop and implement comprehensive safety and risk management programs. • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels in safety initiatives. • Proficiency in facility management software, incident tracking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.   Preferred Certifications: • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facilities Management Professional (FMP) • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification   Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations: Valid WA State driver’s license and proof of insurance.    Physical Abilities Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a company motor vehicle and to visit various sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.  While 50% in the office, this is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking between work areas may be required.  Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.  Occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, and reach, to conduct safety and workers’ compensation inspections and push and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information.  Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 20 pounds. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.   Work Environment:  Employees 50% work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work 50% in the field and may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.     Everyone Is Welcome   When you join Evergreen Goodwill, you join a truly vibrant community.
