Full Time Commercial Irrigation Technician, 2yrs Commercial Experience, in Fort Collins, CO
Commercial and Residential Sprinkler Tech needed for established (30 years) Fort Collins based Landscape Company. Please be able to work Monday-Friday 7:00a-5:30p, some Saturdays. A valid driver’s license is required!
Position Summary:
The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems. This role requires an understanding of various irrigation systems, water conservation techniques, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair irrigation equipment. The technician will ensure the efficient operation of irrigation systems to optimize water usage and support landscaping needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation:
- Install new irrigation systems, including pipes, sprinkler heads, controllers, and valves.
- Ensure proper layout and system design based on project specifications.
- Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance checks on irrigation systems to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
- Clean, replace, or adjust sprinkler heads, valves, and other system components.
- Inspect and repair damaged or clogged pipes and sprinkler lines.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Identify issues within the irrigation system, such as leaks, electrical problems, and malfunctioning components.
- Conduct timely repairs to restore systems to full functionality.
- System Monitoring:
- Monitor and adjust irrigation controllers to maintain optimal water schedules.
- Test systems regularly to ensure they are operating efficiently and in compliance with water usage regulations.
- Water Conservation:
- Implement best practices for water conservation, adjusting systems to reduce water waste.
- Stay informed about new irrigation technologies and methods to improve efficiency.
- Customer Service:
- Provide high-quality service to clients, addressing any concerns or inquiries related to irrigation systems.
- Educate clients on proper irrigation maintenance and water conservation practices.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and equipment used.
- Track parts and supplies used for each job and order replacements as needed.
- Safety:
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensure the safe operation of irrigation equipment and tools.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in irrigation technology or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in irrigation installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, water management, and landscape maintenance.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot irrigation equipment and tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact with clients and team members.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in outdoor environments, sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift heavy equipment and materials.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Primarily outdoor work in residential, commercial, and agricultural settings.
- Occasional exposure to hazardous materials (e.g., fertilizers, chemicals).
Additional Skills (Preferred):
- Certification from the Irrigation Association (IA) or similar organizations.
- Knowledge of drip irrigation systems and smart irrigation controllers.
- Ability to read blueprints or technical schematics for irrigation systems.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
