Evergreen Music School in Montgomery, OH is seeking a passionate, private guitar teacher to join our team as Private Guitar Teacher for our 2nd-12th grade guitar students!
Evergreen Music School is a music lessons studio that is Christian-owned, psychologically-informed, and innovative and student-centered in teaching approach. As the Private Guitar Teacher, you will build meaningful, fun relationships with students and assist them in learning guitar independently, and answer their musical (and not so musical!) questions, provide guidance, and help them overcome musical challenges.
We’re seeking a teaching professional to train students in the beauty of music for 3-4 hours each day, 2-3 afternoons/early evenings per week of your choice (between Monday-Friday).
Essential Duties:
- Welcome students and families by name and help transition them into the classroom.
- Plan, facilitate, and lead a productive lessons environment, balancing both positive and constructive feedback to lead students to reaching success.
- Uphold the 3 studio-wide Evergreen Ground Rules (Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect Things)
- Email any sheet music and communicate student updates to parents, as needed.
- Communicate with the owner about students’ progress or concerning behaviors to address.
- Prepare students for optional Evergreen-wide recitals, regional and state festivals, and other special theory and performing events.
- Co-lead or attend occasional Evergreen recitals, other performance fests/events, and student workshops/parties (as needed).
Skills:
- Advanced level or higher guitar/theory education and experience
- Demonstrates patience and respect with kids and teens
- Ability to effectively communicate musical concepts and provide guidance to students
- Ability to communicate feedback with a positive spin
- Comfortable with students with exceptionalities or disabilities (like giftedness, ADHD, anxiety, autism with low-medium support needs, fine motor disabilities, etc.)
Job Type: Part-time W-2 employee
Pay: $25-30 per hour starting pay, commensurate with direct guitar teaching experience

- Opportunity to schedule additional daytime or Saturday lessons with adults, preschoolers, homeschoolers, and/or other population(s) of your preference
Requirements:
- Direct private lesson teaching experience with kids and/or teens: 1 years
- Guitar/theory competency: advanced level or higher in either acoustic, classical, and/or electric styles (option to teach auxiliary instruments when available - bass guitar, ukulele, banjo, etc.)
- Reliable, timely transportation
- Successfully pass a background check
