Job Summary:
The Patient Care Advocate (Pharmacy Technician) assists the Pharmacists in all operational activities of the pharmacy including reviewing orders for patients, preparing Prior Authorizations, utilizing multiple computer software systems, using Electronic Medication Records, communicating with fellow employees, and interacting with physician offices and insurance companies.

The Patient Care Advocate (Pharmacy Technician) assists the Pharmacists in all operational activities of the pharmacy including reviewing orders for patients, preparing Prior Authorizations, utilizing multiple computer software systems, using Electronic Medication Records, communicating with fellow employees, and interacting with physician offices and insurance companies.
Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities and Duties:
- Use multiple EMR platforms and interpret chart notes
- Enter data into pharmacy system
- Understand and navigate Prior Authorization process for review by Pharmacist
- Adjudicate claims
- Schedule medication delivery
- Communicate professionally with patients, providers, insurance companies, and vendors
- Fill and label products for Pharmacist review
- Effectively work both independently and as part of a team
- Check inventory
- Use multiple workflow systems
- Miscellaneous additional tasks
- High school graduate
- At least one year of pharmacy experience or comparable job experience required
- Specialized training, pharmacy technician certificate from an accredited technical school helpful
- Experience in behavioral health and/or medication synchronization a plus
- Keyboard skills of up to 20-40 WPM
- Ability to read and interpret documents with high attention to detail. Documents include:
- Prescription orders
- Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintenance instructions
- Able to prioritize and accurately complete duties with interruptions and under pressure and deadlines
- Follow written, oral, or diagramed instructions
- Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
