Estimator / Project Manager
This individual is responsible for finding potential projects, establishing an estimate / budget, and if awarded, managing the project from NTP to closout. This person is specifically responsible for planning, executing and evaluating projects based off their estimate and construction schedule. The estimator / project manager position is a salary plus performance based commission.
Essential Job Functions
Procure work and develop clientele
Provide ROM budgets to clients and estimate potential projects
Manage projects from NTP to closeout
Be accountable for project results
Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved with COPs.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and track deadlines independently
Ability to work and collaborate with the design team and field team
Ability to manage multiple projects in an organized manner.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
5 years minimum experience in estimating and project managing electrical systems for commercial, industrial and high-tech industries.
Degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or working as a licensed 01 electrician is preferred
Ability to do lighting and power layouts on a floor plan
Experience evaluating and estimating design / build contract work is preferred
Solid knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating and engineering principals and techniques, as well as accounting principles
Must be knowledgeable and competent at quickly evaluating and estimating VE solutions
Must be capable of electrical estimating in order to estimate projects, produce job change orders, evaluate and ply job estimates and assist with new estimates as required
Able to use good judgement in negotiating change orders with the customer is a requirement
Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving and analytical skills
Must be proficient with Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Microsoft Word
Must be proficient with project management tools and software packages. Experience with Accubid is preferred
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Knowledge of NEC, local AHJ codes and construction methods
Must be able to review BOMs of subcontractors, suppliers to determine completeness and compliance with bid documents
