As the Director of HR for Evergreen Roadworks, you will be responsible for the day-to-day HR support of the business including employee relations, labor relations and core HR processes such as compensation management, onboarding, and employee data management. This role is responsible for supporting ~350 employees throughout the Midwest in multiple locations in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan.

The anticipated hiring compensation range for this role, dependent upon qualifications and experience is: $98,000 - $175,000

Essential Functions
Trusted Partner, Relationship Builder and Change Champion
- Serve as trusted business partner and advisor to the Evergreen Leadership Team, implementing HR practices that support the business strategy and growth
- Foster strong partnerships and relationships with leaders and employees at all levels of the Evergreen Roadworks and HC M businesses
- Act as change champion, supporting leaders and employees through policy, HR process, benefits, and system changes as appropriate
- Develop effective partnership and collaboration with shared services teams to deliver value-add HR services to the business:
- The Heritage Group (THG) HR Shared Services: Benefits, payroll and system administration
- THG/HC M Talent Teams: Talent acquisition and talent management including performance, learning and development, career pathing, etc.
- Partner with HC M level and parent company teams to create and implement HR and talent related strategies - Supporting the design, development and implementation of a HR and talent frameworks, policies, and systems at Evergreen Roadworks
- Lead improvement and successful execution of business-critical HR processes such as open enrollment, year-end compensation processes, onboarding, etc.
- Monitor and analyze HR metrics to inform decision making and improve HR practices over time
- Partner with team and act as a champion for the adoption and integration of Workday as the HR operating system
- Create and champion labor relations strategies for applicable sites and proactively plan for negotiations of contracts, in partnership with business leadership and Legal
- Support and coach managers through performance management needs, courageous conversations, and disciplinary actions as needed
- Fosters a culture of psychological safety where employees feel valued, respected, and free to express their ideas and concerns
- Exhibits safe workplace behaviors, inclusive of wearing proper PPE
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. A Master’s degree is preferred
- 8 years of experience in HR or relevant business/leadership experience, preferred
- Industrial or related industries preferred
- Union experience preferred
- Experience in decentralized organizational structures that require collaboration and partnership, preferably in a Business, Center of Excellence and Community of Practice model or structure preferred
- Effective communication

- Willingness to travel 20% of the time of which may include overnight
