Medication Technician

Job Overview
The Medication Technician plays a crucial role in providing quality care to patients by ensuring the safe and accurate administration of medications. Duties

• Administer medications to patients as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with medical guidelines.
• Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications and report findings to healthcare providers.
• Maintain accurate records of medication administration and patient responses, utilizing electronic health record systems such as Epic.
• Assist with tube feeding and other specialized care needs for patients requiring additional support.
• Provide compassionate patient care, including assistance with daily living activities and emotional support.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Uphold cleanliness and safety standards within the facility, ensuring a hygienic environment for all patients.
• Stay informed about medical terminology and best practices in caregiving, particularly in acute care settings.

Skills

• Strong understanding of patient care principles, particularly in hospital or senior care environments.
• Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to medication administration and patient health.
• Experience in home community care or caregiving roles is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of acute care procedures, including tube feeding techniques.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems like Epic for documentation purposes.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities, demonstrating patience and understanding.
• Excellent communication skills to interact compassionately with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in medication administration and record keeping.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $20.50 per hour
