What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cash Applications Representative position at EvergreenHealth?
Wage Range: $23.61 - $36.09 per hour
Hybrid remote in Washington State only
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the daily cash application, balancing, and depositing of EvergreenHealth's dollars and posting adjustments on all accounts assigned to PFS department. Performs reconciliation activities by applying basic accounting principles in validating the transactions to be approved for posting. Competency includes the proper dispositioning and routing of accounts in the respective billing system as it relates to the accurate flow of account follow up collection activities based on the responses from payers
Primary Duties:
1. Applies, enters, balances and deposits cash received daily.
2. Posts payments, adjustments and contractual allowances and performs reconciliation following standard cash posting procedures.
3. Balances cash and contractual adjustments based on cash posting procedures and instructions either manually or electronic posting.
4. Dispositions accounts correctly in the respective billing system for proper follow up and routing.
5. Marks paper remittances for routing based on cash posting procedures and instructions.
6. Follows up on posting of cash application issues both internally and externally.
7. Applies cash payments to appropriate accounts (i.e. hospital accounts and other accounts assigned to PFS, Misc GL and contract accounts).
8. Reviews remittance advices from payers for accuracy of payment and allowances and post correctly on accounts.
9. Performs daily cash reconciliation with lockbox as assigned.
REQUIRED for the position:
•High school graduate, or equivalent
•Detail oriented.
•Typing and keyboarding required (minimum 50 wpm), 10-key by touch
•Ability to deal effectively with all levels of the institution, patients and authorized outside personnel.
DESIRED for the position:
•Vocational training or college degree in medical assisting, billing or business
•Knowledgeable in accounting principles
•Data entry experience
•Previous cash application experience
