Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Under direction of the Manager, Distribution Project Management, this individual will manage a diverse portfolio of contracts and related contract management processes to maximize our return on the contracting value. The Line Construction Analyst will have the responsibility over all our invoicing and accrual process management with all contractors on a regular basis. This position will also be responsible for managing all dispute resolution regarding our invoicing process with each designated contractor and serve as the Distribution Project Management teams’ liaison for monitoring capital spend and contractor onboarding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assure optimal return on contracting value for the company, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract.
  • Must closely monitor capital expenditures for projects assigned to the Distribution Project Management team while reporting the financial performance of those projects.
  • Closely monitor all invoicing process to ensure accurate payment to all contractors.
  • Work closely with our Distribution Ops Financial Management team to review and report monthly on all contractors’ accruals for the previous month.
  • Determine, interpret, and ensure contract obligations and performance measures are being met by all parties.
  • Support development and implementation of Line Construction plans across all areas of Distribution Operations.
  • Contribute to the successful financial performance of the business unit by identifying cost saving opportunities and documenting achievements especially those associated with change order management.
  • Access market intelligence and transfer to Evergy the knowledge acquired, as appropriate.
  • Participate in all aspects of the procurement process and development of contracting strategy.
  • Jointly develop with the Procurement Specialist a long-range Buying Plan for major services.
  • Provide feedback to help form sourcing strategy.
  • Apply analytical and business knowledge, techniques, and procedures.
  • Create systems and processes for collecting and reporting contractor performance and cost data results.

Education and Experience Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, economics, finance, or related analytical field. Candidates with at least five (5) years of related experience will also be considered. Related experience includes driving process improvement or the use of Lean Six Sigma tools; experience managing contracts, especially in field operations; experience working with external vendors/suppliers/contractors on a regular basis.

  • Proven proficiency in working in MS Office Suite products most notably Excel.
  • The position requires high stress tolerance, excellent customer service skills, quick decision-making capability, strong analytical skills, strong planning skills, and the ability to hold contractors and work groups accountable to satisfy requirements of the contract.
  • Candidate must be flexible, a strong leader, credible with all stakeholders, as well as an effective communicator.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize workload not only daily duties but looking out into next week, quarter, end of year, etc.
  • Must be able to multi-task and utilize newer technology to ensure efficiencies are met.
  • Ability to identify, mitigate and manage risk to which the Company is exposed in the procurement and contract management process.
  • Mathematical accuracy and a basic familiarity with accounting principles.
  • Capacity and aptitude to perform quantitative problem solving and measure results through metrics.
