Role Description:
We are seeking qualified and motivated candidates for the position of Electric Distribution Design Engineer. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, energetic, and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This role involves supporting distribution design and engineering projects for clients across multiple states. Responsibilities include electric distribution field design, staking of distribution facilities, project estimation, and preparation of construction prints using electronic design/estimation software, all in accordance with client standards and specifications.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or certificate in Electric Power Technology with at least one (1) year of experience.
- OR three (3) years of prior experience in electric distribution design and estimation.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the company and clients professionally when interacting with property owners, engineering firms, and construction teams.
- Stay updated with changing technologies, work planning, and design methodologies in Electric Distribution Design.
- Ensure adherence to client standards while developing detailed engineering plans for projects.
- Identify and design overhead and underground electric distribution facilities (4kV–35kV).
- Perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading, guying, geometric angle calculations, and material assemblies.
- Secure easements, right-of-entry requests, and permits as needed.
- Take ownership of work quality, accuracy, and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with project management, operations, construction teams, and other subject matter experts for project scoping.
- Resolve technical engineering conflicts affecting cost, schedule, quality, or customer satisfaction.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior team members.
- Ensure safety, reliability, operability, and constructability in final designs and processes.
- Utilize laptops and software programs (MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word) efficiently.
- Demonstrate strong time management, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Be prepared to work outdoors for extended hours, travel as needed (including overnight stays), and carry field equipment for staking electric distribution designs.
