Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health status.
- Diagnose and treat a range of medical conditions in pets and other animals.
- Perform surgical procedures and administer anesthesia as needed.
- Provide preventive care, including vaccinations, dental care, and wellness checks.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and behavior.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians in the administration of treatments and medications.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine through continuous education.
Skills
- Proficient in veterinary terminology for effective communication with clients and staff.
- Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) for documenting and charting pet exams, treatments, diagnosis, etc.
- Strong animal handling skills to ensure the safety of both animals and personnel during examinations and treatments.
- Knowledgeable in laboratory techniques and Xray for conducting diagnostic tests.
- Experience within GP practices to promote optimal health in various species.
- Surgical experience needed.
- Ability to perform animal catheterization and manage animal restraint during procedures.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to prevent infection during surgeries.
- Skills in pet nutrition as part of overall health maintenance.
