Summary
The Director of Finance Business Systems, reporting to the Managing Director of Business Systems, is a pivotal leader within the IT department. This role focuses on collaborating with business partners to oversee the continuous improvement, analysis, data governance, integration, maintenance, administration, support, lifecycle management, and training related to the systems underpinning finance operations. The Director is also tasked with managing and enhancing a portfolio of financial systems, ensuring their robust support for expansive financial functions.
Key Responsibilities
Transformation Initiatives:
- Act as the go-to expert for Oracle NetSuite (core accounting, budgeting, and planning), Investment Management solutions (public market transactions, alternative investments, fund management), and other finance-related systems during their design, deployment, implementation, and ongoing operations.
- Collaborate with Program and Project Management teams to align system implementation scope, schedules, and resources with the organization’s business goals.
- Oversee the collection and validation of financial systems requirements, ensuring they align with Finance stakeholders' needs and partner with technical teams for accurate implementation.
- Support training initiatives and change management strategies to facilitate system adoption.
- Assist in evaluating new finance system software by contributing to requirement development, RFP creation, and vendor selection processes.
- Lead post-deployment support and training to optimize system usage and configuration.
Ongoing Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the optimization, configuration, maintenance, administration, and roadmap development of the finance systems stack, ensuring solutions remain stable, interconnected, efficient, and reliable.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with the Finance team to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Oversee the lifecycle of finance systems, including design, development, testing, and regular updates, while adhering to industry best practices.
- Partner with IT solution architects to design and implement technology solutions that address business challenges effectively.
- Develop, organize, and implement technology initiatives aligned with evolving business needs within the Finance department.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system design decisions, use cases, process flows, enhancements, and modifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience; MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proven experience managing or implementing financial enterprise systems; consulting experience or a background in non-profit organizations is a bonus.
- In-depth knowledge and demonstrated expertise with Oracle NetSuite’s finance-related business processes and functionalities.
- Familiarity with SaaS Investment Management solutions (e.g., Clearwater Analytics, Addepar, SS&C Geneva Accord) is advantageous.
- Strong business insight and a solid understanding of core finance, accounting, and investment operations.
- Track record of successfully managing complex system implementation projects.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions, articulate challenges, brainstorm solutions, and drive cultural change in work processes.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convert business requirements into actionable solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and juggle multiple tasks while adhering to deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-driven with a focus on follow-through.
- Experience with enterprise CRM systems, Data Warehousing, and Business Process Automation tools is a plus.
