Systems Engineer

Overview:
The Systems Engineer will work closely with the global IT department to execute, maintain, and enhance technical systems and applications, specializing in areas like networking (LAN, WAN, firewalls), servers, storage devices, Active Directory, and enterprise management tools. Serving as a technical expert, they will support company IT personnel and share in the daily management and support of the company’s global infrastructure and Help Desk functions.
The Systems Engineer will be involved in various cross-departmental projects, which will focus on the planning, designing, and deploying of network infrastructure and complementary technologies like data storage, virtualization, security protocols, and disaster recovery solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, secure, and expand company global network infrastructure, covering firewalls, switching/routing services, VPN connectivity, IP services, wireless networks, and service redundancy.
- Oversee network performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide performance metrics and reports.
- Design, engineer, administer, and secure systems and applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Windows Server, VMWare, Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365/Azure Tenants, and cloud storage platforms.
- Provide desktop and application support to company employees.
- Configure, implement, maintain, and upgrade IT systems according to the organization’s global IT strategy.
- Offer recommendations for the IT budget and ensure adherence to the allocated spending.
- Maintain thorough documentation for all IT systems for which you are the primary owner.
- Utilize the help desk ticketing system to streamline incident management and help maintain knowledge base systems for IT staff and end-users.
- Continuously seek to refine and enhance infrastructure services provided to the business.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and assess their relevance to the company.
- Offer technical expertise, industry knowledge, and best practices to the broader team to encourage continuous improvement.
- Work autonomously, exercising sound judgment with minimal supervision, while clearly documenting activities and achievements.
- Coordinate with company European staff to collaborate on global projects.
- Be accessible by phone or email on an as-needed basis outside regular work hours to assist with production, maintenance, or direct reports.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures and prioritize the safety of others.
- Report accidents or unsafe conditions immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S) or equivalent in Information Technology, Business, or a related field; 3-5 years of IT experience, including at least 2 years as a systems engineer. Experience with multi-country or international application or technology deployments is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write concise correspondence; and effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings with customers, clients, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in calculating figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and basic geometry and algebra concepts.
Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience managing Palo Alto, Cisco, and other enterprise-level network infrastructure in multi-office settings; relevant industry certifications are preferred.
- Deep expertise in managing Microsoft Windows servers, domain services, and desktop administration.
- Proficiency in managing Microsoft SQL databases, scripting, and generating reports.
- Experience in the maintenance and support of global ERP systems.
