What is this job?
The Lead One to One Aide works with an instructional team consisting of a special education/general education teacher and other support staff assigned to the classroom or students. The Lead One to One Aide will work to support the program, ensuring consistency for an identified child or children throughout the day. This individual provides instructional and/or behavioral support for a child/children with an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or a transitional plan using research-based strategies under the day to day supervision of the special education or general education teacher. The Lead One to One Aide will also assist the teacher with preparation and reinforcing of classroom instruction. The Lead One to One Aide may also deliver evidence-based programs designed for support staff under the direction of a teacher. The role of a Lead One to One Aide is a flexible position and the role may vary as the needs of the student population change. The Lead One to One Aide position encompasses all the aforementioned skills and also provides guidance and mentorship to other One to Ones throughout the elementary, middle school and high school programs. The Lead One to One Aide will be responsible for creating and leading trainings for a designated group of One to One Aides. The Lead One to One Aide will be responsible for completion and checking completion of paperwork for assigned group.

The Strawbridge School is a non-public school approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). The program provides small, caring classroom settings guided by certified special education teachers.
The school serves youth with emotional, behavioral, and/or intellectual challenges in a supportive and nurturing environment. - Provides individualized behavior and academic supports as prescribed in the Individualized Education Program or as directed by administration.
- Collects data toward specific goals and objectives in the prescribed manner, utilizing the required format.
- Assists the teacher(s) in preparing for and implementing supplemental aids and services along with individualized instruction which support the Individual Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.
- Supports instructional programs, field trips, and student activities by maintaining a high level of engagement while interacting with students, leading small groups, and completing other instructional tasks as requested by the teacher.
- Works collaboratively with team members to effectively implement student Individualized Education Programs.
- Consults supervisor regarding individualized behavioral and instructional strategies appropriate for students with disabilities.
- Accepts guidance and direction from assigned classroom teacher, while supporting planning, instruction and IEP implementation.
- Lead 1:1 Responsibilities:
- Assist with data entry compliance and the ongoing monitoring of the data collection process
- Role model sound behavior techniques for current staff members utilizing the evidence-based modules necessary for maintaining the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
- Provide specific behavioral trainings to One to One staff.
- Assist with the onboarding of new One to Ones to the Strawbridge School program
- Assist with the monitoring and implementation of the school wide PBIS system
What experience and education do I need?
Required Education and Experience
· A high school diploma
· At least one-year of related behavioral, academic and/or clinical experience
Preferred Education and Experience
· A.A. degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field or successful related experience and at least 30 credits toward an A.A. degree preferred.
· Minimum of two years of experience in education, clinical mental health, or related field.
· RBT (Registered Behavioral Technician) Certification or in the process of obtaining the RBT certification
