Utilizing a trauma responsive approach to treatment, the therapist delivers individual and group counseling, conducts mental health assessments and risk assessments, screening for human trafficking and other concerns. Therapists are responsible for maintaining current and accurate case documentation, providing crisis intervention and acting as a member of a care team to provide supportive counseling within a residential living environment.
We are looking for either an LMSW or an LCSW-C. Candidates must be licensed at the LMSW level within 6 months of hire.

A range of compensation is provided. Please note that the compensation for the role is determined by a candidate’s education level, licensure level, being Spanish / English speaking, and and years of related professional experience in the field.

What does this job do specifically?

- Responsible for providing youth with individual counseling sessions at least one time weekly, providing additional support as clinically necessary.
- Responsible for ensuring group counseling sessions are provided in the residential milieu at least twice weekly and that one session is facilitated by a therapist.
- Works with youth and family/sponsor to establish short term goals and objectives.
- Aids with the completion of the individual service plan and required assessments within regulatory time frames.
- Responsible for developing and implementing clinical interventions designed to assist the youth with acclimating to Everstand and life in the United States.
- Provides family counseling sessions, including reunification assessments as required to ensure safe and timely release processes.
- Ensures that youth receive a comprehensive orientation to the program, providing information required by regulations in a trauma informed and culturally competent manner.
- Responsible for ensuring the youth are given the support necessary to identify and discuss concerns related to their journey into the United States or life in home country.
- Collaborates with program staff to ensure that interventions and supports are established to modify dysfunctional behaviors and assist the youth to heal and strengthen their internal resources as well as learn socially appropriate skills.
- Conducts screenings and assessments to identify special needs, developmental, medical or mental health concerns as well as criminal history, gang involvement, trauma and/or trafficking related concerns in accordance with mandated timeframes.
- Conducts and documents risk assessment screenings in accordance with mandated timeframes.
- Provides crisis intervention and support.
- Ensures all assessments and screenings reflect involvement of the youth, family and potential sponsors as appropriate.
- Promote child/youth/family understanding of available Everstand and community resources and facilitate referrals as appropriate.
- Coordinate with the Everstand staff members and community resources to address clients’ service needs.
- Assure that treatment/discharge plans: are individualized, have strengths and services needs clearly identified, and include interdisciplinary treatment goals that are developed in behaviorally measurable terms.
- Effectively collaborate with colleagues to develop/implement interdepartmental policies, procedures, and reports to achieve consistent interdepartmental alignment and reporting of performance outcomes.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the value of cultural diversity, including the ability to develop systems and practices that are inclusive of diverse staff members and responsive to the cultural needs of the client population served.
- Maintain effective working relationships with families, children/youth, colleagues, consultants and community agencies.
- Active participation in mandatory case review and planning meetings, demonstrating the ability to present an accurate and concise client summary to both internal and external team members.
- Complete required documentation and reports within the defined time lines.
- Ensure assigned case records meet documentation standards both with regards to documentation in the required agency, state and federal databases and with regards to the client case file.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and familiarity with both Everstand and Office of Refugee Resettlement Policy and Procedures relating to the care and supervision of Unaccompanied Children. This includes knowledge of legal background and authority governing the practice as related to working with Unaccompanied Children.
- Acts in the capacity of Therapist On Call and / or Caminos On Call as determined necessary to support the program.
- Obtain and maintain certification as a “user” in BCC’s electronic health record software system, Cx360.
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science degree in which direct clinical experience is a program requirement.
- Licensed in applicable field of practice or eligible to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in both Spanish and English.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including refugee and/or unaccompanied children and adolescents.
- At least one-year post-graduate experience
- Current advanced level of State Licensure

- Clinicians with a master's degree and who are within 6 months of LMSW licensure, compensation begins at $69,030.19 yearly.
- Clinicians who have already obtained their license, for example, LMSW, begin at $71,982.32 and goes up from there commensurate with related professional experience.
- Clinicians who have already obtained their license, for example, LCSW-C, begin at $74,103.67 and goes up from there commensurate with related professional experience
Required Language Skills
- Spanish-speaking and reading are a must. We accept candidates who have varying degrees of fluency. For this position really being comfortable at the conversational level is key, as you're welcoming new kids into the program and providing an orientation to the program in Spanish. Our recruitment team can talk to you about this.
