The Accounting Manager will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audits. The Accounting Manager will assist with all accounting functions as required to include monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of financial statements. The Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the Staff Accountant and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls. The Accounting Manager will directly supervise Everts Air Fuel, Inc.s accounting team. The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background, and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity, and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment. Employment Type : Full-Time Regular / Temporary : Cross train in all functions within the department providing backup and assistance as necessary. Train and assist accounting team. Complete the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, account balance reconciliations, and report preparation. Prepare detailed journal entries and account analysis. Assist with the preparation and posting of bank transactions. Direct collection efforts to ensure accounts remain within terms. Prepare and submit timely State of Alaska Motor Fuel Tax, various city fuel tax, Property and Excise (720) Tax Reports, landing reports, and any others that may arise due to operations. Collaborate with Operations to complete and file timely the IRS Form 2290, UCR report and other trucking forms. Authorize disbursements in accordance with policies and procedures. Complete and file the certificate of financial responsibility for Airport Gas and Oil annually. Prepare monthly trending analysis of fuel pricing and sales information for leadership. Maintain operational cost analysis by aircraft type. Support the renewal of insurance policies and aid with related audits. Compile asset reports for proper compilation of depreciation schedules. Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. Assemble information to assist in year-end reviews, audits, and the preparation of tax returns. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance. Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades and implementation of software. Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changes. Make recommendations for changes as needed, and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed, and establish the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud. Actively review and advise on financial and accounting processes. Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards. Review Federal and State fuel tax codes periodically for any changes that will require implementation and modify processes to comply. Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and / or reports required by regulatory agencies. Record purchases and sales as they occur for future reference and for accountant audit. Research purchases as requested by senior management. Respond to any governmental survey requests. Provide support to the Staff Accountant with office tasks as necessary. Keep your work areas clean and free of hazards; Shall perceive the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. Experience of 3 to 5 years in accounting, with at least 2 years of management experience. Strong experience using accounting software and data analytics Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules.
