Overview:
A Behavior Technician works directly with individuals who have developmental, behavioral, or mental health challenges, applying evidence-based strategies, such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), to improve socially significant behaviors. The therapist collaborates with a team of professionals, including Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), to help clients develop skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and improve their quality of life

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-on-one or group therapy sessions based on plans designed by BCBAs or clinical supervisor.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans to teach skills, promote independence and reduce challenging behaviors.
  • Use positive reinforcement and other techniques for behavior modification.
  • Collect and track data on client progress during sessions.
  • Adjust interventions under the guidance of a BCBA or supervisor.
  • Communicate with parents, caregivers, and team members about client progress.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines as per the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or other governing bodies.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision meetings to review client progress and improve therapy techniques.
  • Assist clients in various settings including homes, schools, clinics, or community locations as per treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with other professionals (e.g., teachers, speech therapists) to ensure a cohesive approach.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or behavioral challenges (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles (RBT certification is a plus).
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Excellent data collection and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Working Conditions:

  • Varied settings: homes, schools, clinics, community environments.
  • Physical demands may include sitting, standing, and occasional lifting or moving individuals.
  • May require flexible hours, including evenings or weekends.

Salary:
Starting at $30-$35 an hour, based on experience and location.

Overview:
A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) works directly with clients to implement behavior intervention plans, designed by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or other behavior professionals. The RBT’s primary responsibility is to provide therapy and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans created by BCBAs to improve socially significant behaviors.
  • Collaborate with clients in both one-on-one and group settings to teach new skills, address challenging behaviors, and foster independence.
  • Collect and record data on client behavior during therapy sessions to track progress.
  • Follow ethical guidelines set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Communicate supervisors (BCBAs), team members, and family members regarding client progress and any challenges encountered.
  • Participate in supervision sessions and regular supervision sessions with a BCBA to review progress and refine techniques.
  • Use positive reinforcement techniques and other evidence-based behavior intervention techniques to support client goals.
  • Maintain safe and supportive environments for clients according to HIPAA and other confidentiality standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma (bachelor’s degree preferred in psychology, education, or a related field).
  • Current RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or the ability to obtain certification within a specific time frame
  • Experience with developmental disabilities or in behavior therapy (preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Patience and empathy in challenging situations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adapt to individualized client needs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and accept constructive feedback.
  • Working Conditions:

  • Physical requirements include the ability to engage in activities with clients, including sitting, standing, and occasionally lifting or moving individuals as necessary.
  • May require flexible hours, including evenings or weekends.

Salary:
Starting at $38-$40 an hour, based on experience and location.

Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or supervising behavior analyst.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
