Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), adapting lessons to meet the unique requirements of each student, and collaborating with parents, staff, and specialists to ensure the best possible educational outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the individual needs of students with disabilities.
- Create and maintain IEPs that outline specific educational goals and accommodations for each student.
- Utilize various teaching strategies, including Montessori methods, to engage students in their learning process.
- Collaborate with speech therapists and other specialists to support students’ communication and learning needs.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods as necessary to ensure effective learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices in special education.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages social interaction, independence, and self-esteem among students.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid (M/M) teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with children with disabilities, including knowledge of deaf education is a plus.
- Strong skills in lesson planning, curriculum development, and adapting instructional materials for diverse learners.
- Familiarity with IEP processes and procedures, as well as experience in implementing speech therapy techniques within the classroom setting.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans that incorporate subjects such as Math while addressing individual student needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A compassionate approach towards educating children with special needs, demonstrating patience and understanding at all times.
