The Associate Director of Donor Advancement is responsible for recruiting, cultivating, and raising money for Everytown and Moms Demand Action's midlevel program. This role will play a critical part in driving revenue growth, donor retention, and maximizing income through strategic outreach and campaigns. Reporting to the Managing Director of Donor Growth & Experience, the Associate Director will work collaboratively across channels (digital offline) to execute donor-centric strategies and tactics that maximize the value of these donors.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment of high-value audiences

  • Design and implement strategies to acquire new mid-level donors, leveraging multi-channel approaches such as digital campaigns and advertising, direct mail, and other channels including phones, canvassing, and in-person events if appropriate

  • Develop compelling appeals, outreach materials, and website upgrades tailored to recruit mid-level donors

  • Where it exists, optimize current program infrastructure

  • Collaborate with legal and financial advisors as needed to facilitate bequests, trusts, and other planned giving vehicles whenever applicable

  • Identify and cultivate prospective mid-level donors through data analysis, donor segmentation and pipeline development

Retention and growth of high value audiences

  • When appropriate, create higher touch stewardship plans to maintain strong relationships with existing mid-level donors, ensuring they feel valued and are connected to the organization’s mission

  • Develop and execute onboarding messaging to welcome and retain new mid-level donors

  • Execute on value promises, i.e. regular event invitations, special fulfillment projects, etc.

  • Monitor donor retention rates and implement targeted strategies to address lapses and re-engage donors at risk of attrition including targeted donor journeys

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for high-value donors, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a seamless donor experience

Upgrades of high value audiences

  • Identify opportunities to increase donor contributions through strategic upgrades, including transitioning mid-level donors to major gift prospects, increasing mid-level and sustaining giving commitments

  • Collaborate with major gifts to create pathways to deepen mid-level support

  • Identify opportunities for cross-promotion among giving programs

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Monitor donor behavior, analyze trends, and use insights to refine strategies for solicitations and cultivation

  • Prepare regular reports on program performance, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for growth

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Work closely with internal teams, including grassroots fundraising, digital advocacy, and major gifts to align messaging and maximize donor value

  • Stay informed on industry best practices, emerging trends, and innovative approaches to maximizing revenue from midlevel audiences

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, marketing, communications or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or nonprofit development.

    • Proven success in managing high-value donor programs, including midlevel, monthly, and/or legacy giving

  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with donors

    • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

    • Data-driven approach with experience in donor segmentation, analytics, and reporting

    • Proficiency in CRM systems

    • Creative problem-solving and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
