What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Development position at Everytown for Gun Safety?
Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation's largest gun violence prevention advocacy group, is seeking a Director of Development. This position will be tasked with managing Everytown's Major Gifts program, raising donations and overseeing outreach to Everytown's largest donors, prospecting to help find new supporters, managing a small team of staff and professional fundraising consultants, and developing a plan to help the organization meet its annual fundraising goals for major gifts.
In this role you will :
- Manage all of Everytown's major donor fundraising. This includes setting goals for annual fundraising, setting up (and in some cases, staffing) fundraising trips for Everytown senior principles; prospecting for new donors; following up on meetings, including the management of proposal generation and follow-through; managing correspondence to / from major donors; and conducting donor maintenance for all portfolio donors.
- Work with the COO, Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, and fundraising consultants to put together an annual travel calendar, and develop a strategic plan to hit yearly fundraising goals.
- Help the team think through opportunities for event-driven fundraising in select states where we have opportunities to bring existing and potential donors together to learn more about Everytown's work.
- Develop, solicit and provide updates to donors in emerging states.
