We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support and care to individuals with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum. Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Support residents in achieving their personal goals and promoting independence.
- Monitor and document vital signs as needed, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents.
- Uphold resident rights and advocate for their needs in all interactions.
- Provide companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities that promote social interaction.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive information.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings to enhance caregiving skills and knowledge.
- Must have a valid driver license and vehicle and be comfortable driving client out in the community. Mileage will be reimbursed.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Strong understanding of resident rights and the importance of dignity in care.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required when assisting residents.
- Knowledge of basic caregiving practices, including cleaning and maintaining a safe environment.
- Familiarity with vital signs monitoring is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
