We are a dynamic and fast-growing transportation company, with our largest client being the United States Postal Service (USPS). We specialize in innovative logistics solutions and value data-driven decision-making across all levels of our operations. We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Vice President of Contracts and Pricing to join our executive team and lead pricing strategy, contract negotiation, routing optimization, and competitive bidding processes.

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Contracts and Pricing will play a pivotal role in optimizing our profitability and operational effectiveness. This role requires a strong leader with deep expertise in transportation pricing, bidding strategy, routing, and cost modeling. Reporting directly to the COO, the VP will drive the development of winning proposals, negotiate complex contracts, and lead the cost and price analysis process, especially for USPS and other high-profile clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract & Proposal Management:
  • Lead the full lifecycle of RFP responses and government bids, ensuring competitive and compliant submissions.
  • Develop, negotiate, and close complex transportation contracts that support the company’s strategic goals.
  • Oversee proposal pricing strategy, supporting accurate, competitive, and profitable offers.
  • Pricing & Routing Expertise:
  • Design and maintain competitive pricing models using historical, market, and cost data.
  • Utilize routing optimization tools and methodologies to ensure efficiency and profitability.
  • Continuously assess and refine bid strategies to improve win rates and contract performance.
  • Cost & Price Analysis:
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis in the absence of adequate price competition, in line with USPS standards.
  • Evaluate cost elements such as labor, materials, equipment, facilities, indirect rates, and contingencies.
  • Perform technical analysis of supplier/subcontractor proposals and make-or-buy decisions.
  • Apply USPS-specific pricing strategies and guidelines to all proposals and contracts.
  • Technology & Tools:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is essential.
  • Must be highly skilled in Excel for complex modeling, data analysis, and scenario planning.
  • Experience with routing, bidding, or pricing tools and technologies is a strong plus.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Legal, and Finance teams to support bid strategy and post-award performance.
  • Ensure seamless transitions from Sales to Account Management.
  • Provide executive-level insights and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Industry Insight & Innovation:
  • Maintain current knowledge of USPS contracting regulations, transportation trends, and competitive market forces.
  • Recommend and implement continuous process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred but not required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or contract pricing, including 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Direct experience with USPS contracts, pricing, and compliance strongly preferred
  • Proven expertise in government bidding and proposal development
  • Strong analytical skills, especially in cost and price modeling and route optimization
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite is required
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM is required
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
