Evoke Wellness in Hilliard is seeking a Director of Nursing to add to our growing team! The Director of Nursing is a vital member of the medical department and clinical component of our System of Care. Our Director of Nursing is under the supervision of the Executive Director and is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patients as they go through the treatment process. This position is responsible for all Nursing-related services for each patient. The Director of Nursing is involved in ongoing monitoring and evaluation to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of patient care. The Director of Nursing is also engaged in preserving and improving the quality and efficiency of our facility's patient assessment and treatment care. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the hiring, onboarding, and training of all nursing staff.
Position Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings.
- Stabilize the patients according to facility and provider protocol.
- Responsible for rendering all nursing assessments, evaluations, and consents based on the individuals and level of care where you are stationed.
- Ensures that all daily documentation and updates needs are completed by the end of the shift.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the facility's nursing department in coordination with the Medical Director and Executive Director.
- Supervise all nursing staff to ensure that all medical documentation and medical care requirements are met pursuant to regulatory standards and practice and comply with all licensing and credentialing regulations and standards.
- Regularly inspect open and closed medical charts to ensure compliance with QI & QA Policy & procedures and all other regulatory, funding, and clinical and medical standards.
- Supervise, monitor, and document staff delivery of all nursing services.
- Reviews and ensures all medication logs are completed correctly and timely.
- Completed monthly checks on all medical supplies, medications, and equipment to ensure everything is in good working order, not expired, and properly labeled.
- Ensure all required detox services and protocols are met and delivered promptly and pursuant to regulatory standards and requirements (if applicable).
- Obtain and manage all medical vendor contracts.
- Meet with multi-disciplinary leaders daily to report facility/staff/or patient concerns or problems.
- Uphold all licensure and credentialing policies and procedures, especially regarding the nursing aspect of treatment.
- Work with the pharmacy or vendor regarding medication oversight and destruction.
- Responsible for recommending and ensuring regulatory staffing patterns & managing the annual budget.
- Ensure that shifts are covered by all levels of staff and that staff are actively involved in the nursing treatment, admission, and census process and aware of all elements of its implementation.
- Implement and monitor medical/nursing Utilization Review functions and requirements for the entire medical/nursing department in compliance with established company policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures as needed to address patient and/or staff issues and needs.
- Ensure all nursing staff comply with HR and personnel policies and procedures.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to supervisory-level personnel as needed to help maximize managerial performance and ability.
- Responsible and accountable for managing direct reports.
- Preparation and presentation of performance evaluations, inclining competencies evaluations.
- Provides objective feedback to employees.
- Makes appropriate compensation recommendations, if applicable
- Provides appropriate department training and holds staff accountable for attending required training.
- Recruits and holds interviews for vacant positions and appropriately selects candidates to fill open positions.
Position Requirements
- Knowledge of addictions and mental health complications.
- Knowledge of community health resources that support life improvement in physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health, economic security, employment, positive social and family interdependence, and positive cultural identity.
- Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes:
- Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
- Alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
- Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action when necessary.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
- Knowledge of the stages of alcohol and other drug withdrawals and ability to take appropriate action at each stage.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including:
- - Confidentiality
- - Patient Rights
- - Professional Code of Ethics
- - Discrimination
- Knowledge of airborne and blood-borne pathogens (TB, HIV, AIDS, HB), risk reduction methodologies, and universal precautions.
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description, which are related to working as a SUD/MH treatment team member.
Education & Work Experience
- Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, a M.S. degree in nursing preferred.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in nursing leadership with a working knowledge of Substance Abuse and Dual Diagnosis Patients.
- Current and active license to practice nursing in the respected state. Must hold an RN license at minimum.
