What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Technician position at Evolutions Treatment Center?
Evolutions Treatment Center is seeking responsible Behavioral Health Technicians to provide a variety of patient care duties and support functions to our mental health and substance use disorder patients.
Working under the supervision of the Program Director/ Clinical Director and/or other Administrative Staff of the Agency, the Behavioral Health Technician assists new patients with the orientation to the rules and regulations of the program and is responsible for insuring that the daily schedule is followed, patients are on time for group and individual counseling sessions, as well as clinical activities associated with the program, prepare the patients for any activities outside the treatment facility and maintain order in the environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provides for a safe environment and safe delivery of patient care.
- Builds positive relationships with staff and clients.
- Assist in the monitoring of the patients with adherence to local, state and federal accreditation standards and perform safety checks as needed.
- Under the supervision of the Program Director, facilitate activity groups as directed, interact with patients in a therapeutic manner and assist with patient de-escalation as needed.
- Conduct regular drug screens and perform medication observation.
- Document patient whereabouts during assigned rounds (e.g., Q15, Q30, etc.)
- Maintain appropriate documentation and communication regarding patient progress, issues and/or concerns.
- Perform support activities such as file maintenance, record keeping and supply inventory.
- Assist with patient transport for outside case management appointments.
Education/Experience and Other Requirements:
- High School Graduate or Equivalent plus experience in working with individuals with behavioral health problems.
- A valid State of Florida Driver's License
- The ability to pass the Level 2 Background Screening required by the State of Florida Department of Children and Families.
- Previous experience working as a Behavioral Health Technitian and/or medical assistant.
Additional Duties:
At all times, the Behavioral Health Technician will project a positive, professional demeanor through verbal and non-verbal communications. Insure that information for patients and staff is delivered in a manner that is supportive, timely and understandable. Interpersonal conflicts are resolved using appropriate methods and organizational resources and most importantly, diverse perspectives are acknowledged; language and behaviors are modeled that build inclusiveness in the work and treatment environment and privacy is maintained at all times for patient and employee information. The Behavioral Health Technician is required to participate in performance improvement activities on an on-going and proactively diagnose and resolve problems.
