Job Description: Our client Systems is seeking a highly skilled Big Data Developer for a long-term contract opportunity with a leading financial institution based in Jersey City, NJ. This role offers a chance to work on a high-impact project supporting a global trading desk by building a modern data pipeline and transitioning from a legacy Oracle platform to a scalable Hadoop-based infrastructure.
You will play a critical role in consolidating and transforming data from multiple internal teams, enabling the trading desk to access real-time, structured data for strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is an experienced big data engineer with strong skills in Core Java, Hadoop, Scala, Oracle, and DevOps practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and frameworks using Hadoop ecosystem tools
- Work with multiple teams to gather, consolidate, and structure data for trading systems
- Enhance and migrate legacy Oracle-based systems to a big data architecture
- Develop scalable applications using Core Java and Scala
- Collaborate with DevOps teams for automated builds, deployments, and monitoring (Jenkins or similar)
- Optimize performance and ensure high availability of data processes
- Use Apache Spark for data processing and analytics (nice to have)
Must-Have Skills:
- Core Java development experience
- Hadoop (basic understanding required)
- Scala programming
- Oracle database development
- DevOps tools (preferably Jenkins)
- Experience with mapping tools or techniques for data integration
