Design Engineer
Evolve Transporters is a high-end custom fabrication company with locations in greater Indianapolis Indiana and Cleveland Ohio. Our clients are some of the biggest motorsport teams and brands in the world, for which we assist in designing and fabricating race transporters. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN THIS ROLE :
The Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in taking projects from concept to completion and applying engineering principles to develop innovative, high-performance transporters and trailers. This role works closely with the Creative & Production Departments to ensure all projects meet technical requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations. This role is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of materials, structural integrity, and mechanical systems, combined with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Design & Engineering
- Create detailed 3D models, CAD drawings, and engineering schematics for new and existing products, ensuring manufacturability and structural integrity.
- Taking into consideration a user experience with a superior and elevated end result throughout the design process.
Material Specification
Identify and select appropriate metals, composites, and other materials to ensure compliance with engineering design standards and production performance.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with various departments including Creative, Production, and Project Managers to ensure all production specifications are clear, feasible, and aligned with customer needs.Project Execution
Oversee and monitor design implementation from prototype to production, ensuring project deliverables are met on schedule.Problem-Solving & Optimization
Analyze data, identify trends, and develop recommendations for improving designs, reducing production costs, and increasing product durability.Manufacturing Support
Assist the Production and Fabrication team with technical guidance, ensuring designs are executed correctly and efficiently.TOP SKILLS : Technical Skills
Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other CAD software for 3D modeling and drafting.Strong understanding of structural mechanics, physics, and material properties in engineering applications.Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications with precision.Managing and tracking BOM (Bill of Material)Experience with sheet metal, welding, and custom fabrication processes is a plus.Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving abilities with a creative and analytical approach.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and clients.Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Comfortable working both independently and in a team setting.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach and stoop in both office and shop settings.Travel expectation – 25%PREFERRED EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).Experience in Motorsports, Aerospace, Naval or Transportation industry is highly desirable.Experience in FEA (Finite Element Analysis), testing and validation methods is a plus.Understanding of material properties is a plus.This list of duties and responsibilities is not comprehensive and may change at any time.
