The role:
We are seeking a Mission Operations Engineer to oversee the real-time management of spacecraft and ensure successful execution of space missions. This role involves monitoring spacecraft health, coordinating operational activities, and responding to anomalies to maintain mission success.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the operational status of an advanced spacecraft fleet.
- Troubleshoot and resolve anomalies within spacecraft systems and subsystems.
- Develop technical reports on system performance, mission outcomes, and anomaly resolutions.
- Create telemetry monitoring tools, procedures, and manuals to support mission operations.
- Assist in pre-launch testing, mission planning, and in-orbit operations of new satellites.
- Complete a structured mission operations training program.
- Provide on-call support as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 1 years of experience in spacecraft operations or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of spacecraft systems, mission operations, and control software.
- Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to real-time issues.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration and reporting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving mission demands.
- Eligibility for a Secret and/or TS/SCI security clearance.
- Willingness to work occasional extended hours or weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with advanced mission control systems and operations.
- Certifications in space systems or mission operations (e.g., Certified Space Mission Operator).
- Extensive industry experience in spacecraft control and mission execution.
- Proven ability to improve and streamline mission control processes.
