Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials for research and development of new products or processes, quality control, maintenance of environmental standards, and other work involving experimental, theoretical, or practical application of chemistry and related sciences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works effectively in an unstructured environment - provides input to the planning process and then executes laboratory work in accordance with agreed to targets / milestones
- Solves problems as appropriate in area of expertise
- Applies and develops knowledge of test methodology in line with ASTM standards for coating / composites applications
- Provides technical input to supervisor to propose changes for additional testing and experimental work to ensure projects are advanced
- Ability to interpret test results and communicate key findings / conclusions during new product development
- Maintains accurate and thorough records of laboratory procedures and results; ensures compliance with Evonik standards, prepares technical reports on work conducted
- Serves as a proactive role model and mentor within the technician community
- Interacts with product / process R&D to exchange ideas, build up knowledge of process and transfer of information for scale- up
- Uses and shares knowledge of specific laboratory techniques as it pertains to product synthesis.
- Acts as an additional secondary contact with AT and process R&D team members for specific technical issues.
- Demonstrates a high level of expertise in areas of safety and plays a lead role in group and departmental safety teams.
- Provides technical input in the writing of laboratory safe work practices
- Functions as a departmental resource for areas of expertise in safety.
- Executes laboratory work in accordance with Evonik safety protocols and looks for new ways to improve the efficiency and organization of the laboratory
