The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN. Hybrid or remote location considered.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Create and assist in the preparation of designs, calculations, and drawings of equipment and structural designs for transmission line equipment.
- Lead project specification research, determine applicable electrical codes, and ensure specific project requirements are addressed in design
- Apply department and relevant standards to prepare calculations and drawings in accordance with project specifications
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to address transmission line related issues or concerns
- Create detailed markups and coordinate with CAD drafters/designers to produce high quality, providing drafting support as needed.
- Review shop/vendor drawings, respond to requests for information (RFIs), and assist clients with general construction support services.
- Facilitate coordination with PV, substation, power studies, civil/structural, and other design disciplines
- Review work for Quality Assurance and Quality Control and ensure compliance with EVS quality standards
- Participate in and facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients.
- Train and mentor less experienced engineers in their technical and professional development.
- Participate in regular internal and external project meetings with clients and other project stakeholders
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Transmission Engineer for an engineering firm, Utility or EPC
- Professional Engineer Licensure is preferred
- Proficiency with NESC, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards that are applicable to transmission design
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE is required
- Proficiency in PLS-CAISSON/MFAD/LPILE is preferred
- Strong computer skills: proficient with MS Office Suite
- Functional understanding of AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred
- Passionate about the renewable energy business and project development
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
