SUMMARY
This position provides leadership for the overhead line sub-group within the transmission department with oversight to daily operations, team management, project delivery, and client relationships. Key responsibilities include resource allocation, cross-departmental coordination, quality assurance, and team leadership. This role also involves budget and timeline management, developing transmission project proposals, and mentoring engineers on technical and professional growth.
Relevant engineering degree and extensive experience in transmission line engineering is mandatory for this position, preferably within the utility industry. Strong technical skills in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE are required, with additional familiarity in related software preferred. Ideal candidates demonstrate leadership, client management, and financial acumen, with a strategic mindset for long-term department growth and business development. Effective communication and alignment with EVS's core values are essential to fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN. Hybrid or remote location considered.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Department Leadership
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the overhead line sub-group, including managing team schedules, project workload, and resource allocation.
- Support the department Director in interviewing and hiring employees for the overhead line sub-group.
- Collaborate with the Substation Director to cultivate leadership within the team to enable scaling, profitability, quality maintenance, and coordination with the quality manager / committee as the team expands.
- Coordinate cross-departmental resources within EVS to ensure resource availability and communication efficiency on multi-discipline projects.
- Partner with EVS's quality manager to lead the development and implementation of a transmission quality program.
- Oversee the quality of work produced by the transmission group.
- Organize transmission engineering team meetings, educational workshops, and planning sessions.
- Set and communicate clear expectations and objectives for teamwork direction, monitor results, and provide consistent feedback.
- Communicate strategic direction to the transmission team, ensuring alignment among team members.
- Collaborate with EVS's IT department to acquire software needed for engineering solutions.
- Foster a team culture that reflects EVS's core values and company culture.
- Develop and implement initiatives aimed at expanding department capabilities.
