Job Summary
As an ASR-9 Radar Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the Air Surveillance Radar 9 (ASR-9) and Service Life Extension Program (SLEP).
Responsibilities
Provide 2nd level engineering support to ASR-9 modifications installed in the field to include onsite or over the phone
Provide 2nd level maintenance and engineering for data management as well as for operational subsystems of the ASR-9
Troubleshoot, analyze, and determine operational issues and recommending solutions
Design, develop, and test modern solutions to improve the existing systems and equipment
Create installation and testing procedures for system modification and verification
Perform all aspects of system verification, including all every phase of the testing process
Develop and execute a test plan and procedures in an operational environment
Direct and coordinate with vendors to manufacture prototypes and production units (including development of Manufacturing Specifications)
Research new technologies to integrate into the ASR-9
Provide authoritative leadership and technical advice to members of the team
Participate and lead technical interchange meetings
Conduct or participate in formal and informal reviews throughout the development life cycle
Provide technical guidance and participation to the Process Improvement
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required and six (10) years of related experience with at least five (5) of those years being National Air Space (NAS) experience
Associates degree in a related field and eight (8) years of related experience with at least five (5) of those years being National Air Space (NAS) experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and Six (6) years of related work experience with at least five (5) of those years being National Air Space (NAS) experience
Technical Proficiencies
Required
Knowledge and experience using test equipment including oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, logic analyzer
Proficiency in analysis of existing Requirements, Testing and Compliance Procedures / Documents
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Willing and able to travel across the country to ASR-9 Radar sites to perform installations and modifications (available to do so on potentially short notice.)
