Summary: Plans, directs, coordinates, and controls activities of the Parts Department operations in addition to working with other departments of the Dealership to best serve the parts needs of customers by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of employees in the Parts Department.
- Establishes departmental policies and procedures for the Parts Department.
- Conveys company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Ensures full utilization of the automated inventory control system.
- Generates sales and enhances gross profits by establishing realistic sales objectives.
- Merchandises effectively and within budget.
- Ensures customer satisfaction by maintaining an efficient level of service.
- Controls cost by ensuring the company receives full value for the time invested and materials purchased.
- Controls the investment in inventory according to turn rate and level of obsolescence and the goals set annually in the company’s financial plan.
- Utilizes sound security measures in the areas of purchasing, shipping, receiving and facilities.
- Develops and implements a theft prevention program.
- Develops and maintains an emergency replacement plan for non-management employees.
- Develops and maintains an emergency replacement plan and succession plan for the Parts Manager position.
- Reviews employee wages annually with the Store Manager.
- Creates and implements development plans for employees who have an interest in advancement within the organization.
- Obtains competitive bids and purchases supplies only when necessary.
- Encourages aggressive selling by all Parts Department employees.
- Provides backup support to Parts Counter or Parts Manager, when needed.

Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Internet Explorer or an equivalent, Keystone Industry Software, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Certificates and Licenses:
Must have a valid Texas Drivers’ License and a clear driving record.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages one subordinate supervisor who supervises one employee in the Parts Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises two non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
