Job Description: Ewing Halsell Middle School Assistant Principal (Intern)

 

Position Overview:

Vinita Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual for the position of Middle School Assistant Principal (Intern), beginning in July. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring school leader to gain practical experience and develop the skills necessary to excel in school administration. The internship will provide mentorship and guided experiences across various aspects of middle school leadership, preparing the individual for future administrative roles.

Responsibilities:

The Middle School Assistant Principal (Intern) will work closely with the Middle School Principal, faculty, families, and staff to:

 

Student Support and Positive Culture:

  • Assist in implementing and promoting school-wide positive behavior systems.
  • Support student interventions and address disciplinary matters with a focus on decreasing repeated negative behavior.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environment for all students.
  • Support initiatives that promote student well-being and social skills and emotional regulation.

Instructional Leadership Support:

  • Assist in the implementation of curriculum and instructional programs.
  • Support teachers in the use of effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of student data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Participate in professional learning and support teacher growth.

School Operations and Management:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the middle school.
  • Support the coordination of school events and activities.
  • Assist with student scheduling and attendance monitoring.
  • Support the maintenance of accurate student records.

Family and Community Engagement:

  • Assist in fostering positive relationships with parents and families.
  • Support communication efforts between the school and the community.
  • Participate in school and community events.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Educational Administration or related field.
  • Valid Oklahoma teaching certification.
  • Demonstrated interest in school leadership and administration.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, families, and the community.
  • Commitment to student success, learning, and a positive school culture.
  • Willingness to learn and grow as an educational leader.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a middle school setting.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices.
  • Experience with student behavior management and proactive practices.

Internship Details:

  • This is a full-time, temporary/internship position beginning in July.
  • The internship will provide valuable experience and mentorship in middle school administration.
  • Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
