Job Summary:
The CNC Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machines to assist with the manufacture and finishing of panels according to project specifications. Previous experience operating CNC machines required, and CNC router experience or sheet cutting equipment experience is preferred. A strong mechanical aptitude as well as familiarity with machining and tool selection are also beneficial. This role is crucial in maintaining production schedules, ensuring quality standards, and optimizing machine performance.
Location and Hours:
Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Location: Palatine, IL
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC machines to perform routing, drilling, and milling tasks according to technical specifications and programs. Ability to read & comprehend shop drawings is required.
- Ensure work is completed on time while adhering to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Load and input machine programs, adjust machine settings, and calibrate tools to ensure precise machining of materials.
- Monitor the production process and ensure machine is consistently producing good product. Diagnose and resolve issues related to machine performance, including mechanical problems or programming errors.
- Inspect and measure finished products for quality and accuracy, while also maintaining complete and accurate logs of quality checks performed.
- Maintain accurate records of production runs, machine settings, and maintenance activities completed during each shift.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues related to machine performance and output, including machine settings and tooling selection.
- Read detailed production schedules, work order forms, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed in the warehouse.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
- Housekeeping duties, including all forms of warehouse cleanup.
- Assist with other tasks or projects as defined by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating CNC machines is required. Experience with a CNC router is preferred. Woodworking CNC router or sheet cutting equipment is preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience running a CNC router; Biesse experience is a plus.
- Solid math skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting shop drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and technical issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in machining and quality control.
- Ability to use hand tools effectively and inspect work pieces using measurement devices (tape measure, calipers, etc).
- Comfortable with hand tools, drills, saws, tape measure, power tools, etc.
- Familiarity with CAD software is preferred.
- Able to be on feet for 8-10 hours per day and able to walk, reach, lift, move heavy objects (up to 10 lbs regularly and 40 lbs occasionally).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is beneficial.
