About the Opportunity:
The CLS, Flow Cytometry (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) is responsible for performing daily activities related to testing and analysis of patient’s whole blood in the flow cytometry department.
The shift for this position will be Tuesday – Saturday, 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Other shift changes on as needed based on business needs/coverage.
Responsibilities
Note: Other duties may be assigned.
- Execute day-to-day operations of the flow cytometry department.
- Instrument QC and daily routine maintenance of the Flow cytometers.
- Creating batches in LIS prior to testing.
- Conducts quality laboratory testing according to approved laboratory tests and procedures including analysis, review, and reporting of results.
- Identifies and resolves pending specimen results from Laboratory Information System.
- Appropriately addresses analytical and system performance.
- Manage sample storage, maintain reagents, and supply inventory.
- Operates lab equipment such as TECAN-EVO and Fluent, HELMER Ultra-Cell Washer, BIO-TEK ELX50 automated strip washer, and Eppendorf centrifuge.
- Follows troubleshooting procedures to correct deficiencies or problems as they occur with instruments and equipment.
- Maintains cleanliness of the work areas.
- Documents quality control and out-of-range results in an appropriate manner.
- Performs instrument comparison and alternate proficiency test.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations required for reagent preparation.
- Collaborates with equipment vendors to initiate maintenance or repairs of instruments.
- Follow safety procedures and utilize all safety devices and personal protective equipment per protocol.
- Communicate effectively with internal personnel.
- Meets states requirements for mandatory CEUs.
- As defined by established standards, works in a professional, cooperative & courteous manner.
- Observes all laboratory, Exagen & regulatory agency policies & procedures.
- Maintains overall safety (including chemical & biological) of the department under established safety, infection control & procedure protocols.
Qualifications
- Ability to work Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m (full time) and requires the ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime hours as needed.
- CA CLS (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) generalist license required.
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
- Or have earned an associate degree in laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
- 2 – 4 years’ experience in high complexity testing; CLIA/CAP environment.
Pay range: $56 - $62/hr
