About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a qualified Purchasing Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Controller, the Procurement Manager is responsible for establishing an efficient workflow and implementing new processes to satisfy the procurement needs of the laboratory. The Procurement Manager will collaborate with our Laboratory Operations team to develop a working knowledge of their inventory requirements, negotiate with vendors, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
Location note: This is an on-site role based out of our Vista location. Candidates must live within commuting distance.
Responsibilities
Note: Other duties may be assigned.
- Liaise with laboratory personnel to procure consumables and reagents required to support the laboratory and R&D operations at the Exagen Inc. site in Vista, CA
- Maintain continuous material availability and minimize inventory
- Ensures that products are delivered in a timely manner, and that the quality of the product received is satisfactory
- Researches and resolves PO and contract issues such as non-delivered goods, returns, replacements and repairs
- Enters material usage data and purchase orders in Dynamics GP
- Performs monthly cycle counts and full physical counts quarterly
- Compares prices with various vendors to guide purchasing decisions
- Evaluates the performance of vendors
- Anticipates future needs by reviewing ERP and engaging with function leaders
- Recommend and help implement procurement and RFP best practices, including enhancements to ERP/MRP system
- Support primary contacts of key suppliers in contract negotiations
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in purchasing and procurement
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to interact, communicate, and present ideas in a collaborative environment
- Solid organizational, planning, and self-motivation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare, bioscience, or life sciences background preferred
- Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar ERP experience
Salary range: $100,000 - $150,000
