Job Summary:
The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring compliance with AS9100 standards and company quality requirements in a manufacturing environment. This role involves inspecting products, monitoring processes, and maintaining quality and AS9100 documentation to support continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform in-process and final inspections of products to ensure conformance to specifications and AS9100 requirements.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments, including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, and Gage Pins, to verify product quality.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine inspection criteria.
- Document and report nonconformances, assisting in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements.
- Maintain quality records and generate reports related to inspections, defects, and process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with quality and production teams to identify and implement process improvements.
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Assist in training employees on quality standards, inspection techniques, and AS9100 requirements.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred).
- Experience in quality inspection within an AS9100-certified manufacturing environment preferred.
- Understanding of AS9100, ISO 9001, and related aerospace quality standards.
- Proficiency in GD&T and reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Experience with quality inspection tools, techniques, and documentation. CMM operation is a bonus.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and adaptability.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
- Certification in AS9100 Internal Auditing, Six Sigma, or related quality disciplines not required, but is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to stand for extended periods.
- Visual acuity to inspect small components.
- Manual dexterity for handling precision measuring instruments.
