Job Summary
The Clery, Title IX and Investigation Specialist plays a dual role in assisting the University’s compliance efforts, focused predominantly in the areas of Title VII, Title IX, and the Clery Act. Acting as the University’s coordinator for Clery responsibilities, this position will be accountable for publishing the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASFSR), providing annual Campus Security Authority (CSA) training, scheduling, and managing reconciliation meetings for potentially reportable Clery Crimes, and ensuring the University meets all its obligations under the federal Clery Act. Additionally, the Legal Compliance Specialist will investigate allegations of policy violations involving alleged discrimination, Title IX, faculty and staff issues, and other areas of non-compliance. Clery statistics management is outside their duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinates University’s compliance with the Federal Jeanne Clery Act.
- This includes an in-depth understanding of the Clery Act and the University’s compliance obligations under the Act, knowledge of institutional policies and procedures related to crime data reporting, and security and safety procedures, knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of CSA’s and how to identify them; understanding what must be including in the annual ASFSR.
- Investigates allegations of Title VII, Title IX and other, more general misconduct or policy violations, faculty and staff issues, and other areas of non-compliance.
- This includes creating an investigative plan; conducting prompt, thorough, fair and impartial investigations; identifying and interviewing witnesses, and memorializing witness interviews; gathering, securing, and reviewing relevant documentation; making credibility assessments; preparing and presenting final reports and appropriate supporting documents; and communicating with management in a timely manner while protecting the neutrality, integrity and privacy of the investigation.
- Participate in in-person presentations and trainings for students, faculty, and staff on Title IX, Title VII, and Clery Act compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of (3) years of experience in investigation and/or compliance program coordination or seven (7) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Juris Doctorate, Master’s, or other graduate degree.
- Experience working in a university/college setting with student conduct, compliance, legal, office of discrimination, social work, student affairs, sociology, criminal justice, or law enforcement.
- Experience investigating allegations of internal misconduct or policy violations.
- Professional organizational, interpersonal, writing and speaking skills, and the ability to communicate effectively within a university environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail when coordinating across departments to ensure appropriate analysis and accurate reporting of alleged Clery-reportable incidents
- Ability to manage the various components of Clery Act compliance, including the preparation of annual reports and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including victims of sexual assault, relationship violence, or other types of traumas.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload independently and efficiently in a manner that ensures the prompt, effective, fair, and well balanced investigation in a time sensitive environment.
- Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Professional skills in the areas of conflict resolution, problem solving techniques and interviewing.
- Exceptional critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to assess and analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges, including the ability to handle issues of complex and extreme sensitivity.
- Computer proficiency in learning current or new software programs utilized by the University.
