Job Summary
The Evening Laboratory Coordinator Supervisor will be responsible for lecturing/demonstrating on fundamental experimental lab skills, designing experiments, how to ask scientific questions, writing hypotheses, statistics, data analysis, basic synthesis and analysis techniques including Alcohol oxidation, Peptide derivatization (esterification & acylation),Polymerization,
TLC, distillation, LLE, Titrations, UV-Vis, GCMS, LCMS, HPLC,MALDI-TOF, X-ray diffraction, FTIR, Chimera software for molecular docking.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinates with senior special program coordinator and instructors to ensure relevant laboratory experience.
- Responsible for Lecturing/demonstrating on fundamental experimental lab skills, designing experiments, how to ask scientific questions, writing hypotheses, statistics, data analysis, basic synthesis and analysis techniques including Alcohol oxidation, Peptide derivatization (esterification & acylation), Polymerization,
- TLC, distillation, LLE, Titrations, UV-Vis, GCMS, LCMS, HPLC, MALDI-TOF, X-ray diffraction, FTIR, Chimera software for molecular docking.
- Guide students in developing/writing a research proposal.
- Guide students in maintaining a lab notebook including research question/hypothesis, safety, procedures, data collection, observations, and conclusions.
- Teach students to prepare and deliver research presentations; provide meaningful critique/feedback
- Must assist in general lab planning, and process grades.
- Maintains all chemical waste in teaching labs.
- Monitors student’s online safety training and assists with ongoing lab safety and assists in maintaining chemical and consumables inventory.
- Grade Mentor both Graduate Teaching Assistants and Undergraduate Teaching Assistants, as well as managing teaching assistants.
- Communicate with students through Canvas, Teams and LinkedIn, and hold office hours for outside of class instruction.
- Invite speakers from industry and academia for FACT talks and participate is some service duties for the department.
- Support Chemistry stockroom personnel.
- Other duties as needed.
- Master’s Degree in Chemistry experience in related field or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role.
- PhD in Chemistry.
- Experience coordinating teaching labs.
- Experience of college level instruction.
- Prefer experience with data analysis using Microsoft Excel and Chemdraw.
- Must have analytical chemistry experience.
- Prior record of college level instruction.
- Be familiar with organic synthesis and statistics.
- Needs to be able to understand spectroscopy data such as
- NMR, IR and Mass Spec, and UV-Vis chromatograms.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work with chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Will need to be able to lift at minimum 50 pounds to ensure proper instrumentation maintenance and logistics.
