Job Summary
The International Program Coordinator coordinates and plan international student orientations and events that help with social, professional and academic adjustment, as well as implement programs that enhance global awareness and cultural understanding for the UT Arlington community.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead and promote international student events, including Global Grounds, the International Welcome Center and Event, International Education Week, Fall Fest, Thanksgiving Dinner, International Career Week, I-Week, and cultural celebrations.
- Collaborate with campus departments and student organizations to deliver informational and social programs that foster cross-cultural engagement and understanding.
- Design programs for F-1 international students and J-1 scholars that introduce U.S. culture, provide regulatory information related to immigration status, and offer opportunities for engagement beyond the classroom, including career development.
- Plan and oversee the implementation of International Student Orientations.
- Create and maintain up-to-date publications, marketing materials, and website content while managing a strong social media presence to promote Global Engagement.
- Serve as a liaison between Global Engagement and the International Students and Scholars department within the Office of International Education.
- Assist with the recruitment, training, and supervision of student employees.
- Oversee email communications in the Global Engagement inbox, ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of expenditures to maintain budget accountability.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in international studies, education or a related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience coordinating and planning programs or events related to international education.
- Master’s degree in international studies, education, or related field.
- Experience working with groups of student populations from different backgrounds and cultures.
- Proficiency in marketing and publishing tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Mailchimp.
- Skilled in group facilitation, teaching, and public speaking.
- Knowledgeable in intercultural competency and cross-cultural skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to confidently engage with new audiences and speak effectively in front of large groups.
- Experience supporting international students and fostering cultural understanding.
- Keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all tasks and projects.
- Skilled in managing logistics, and adept at planning and organizing resources.
- Proficient in managing time effectively while multitasking to meet deadlines and prioritize competing responsibilities.
