The Mydlarz Lab at the University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher for a 2-year funded position to work on coral disease research. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop and apply cutting-edge bioinformatic approaches, including AI and machine learning, to analyze both existing and newly generated transcriptomic datasets.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Develop and implement novel bioinformatic pipelines to analyze transcriptomic data related to coral disease and immunity. Apply AI and machine learning techniques to identify patterns and insights in large-scale datasets. Work with data from non-model organisms and familiarity with multi-species comparisons. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate findings into broader ecological and evolutionary frameworks. Prepare manuscripts for publication and present research findings at conferences and seminars. Contribute to mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in bioinformatics and coral disease research.

Required Qualifications

PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field. Strong background in bioinformatics, transcriptomics, and data analysis. Experience working with coral or marine biology datasets, is a plus but not required. Experience with machine learning and AI tools applied to biological datasets. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or similar and ability to set up and navigate high-performance computing environments. A track record of peer-reviewed publications in bioinformatics or related fields and strong communication skills.
